Liebster Award Nomination

So, I've been nominated for an award!

Two months into my blogging life and it means a lot! Thanks to Elise, I've been nominated for the Liebster Award. The award encourages beginning bloggers to nominate other small/beginning blogs with under 200 followers so that they can get the recognition they deserve!

Elise has posted a few questions for me to answer for this award so here it goes. Thanks again Elise & for my readers be sure to click on her name and check out her amazing blog, too!

1. What do you like best about blogging/the blogging community?
I love not only being able to have an outlet for creativity but share pieces of my life and places in my life that I feel others should experience as well. Being able to draw inspiration from so many people around the world is an amazing thing and blogging allows that in such a convenient way. There are so many people in the blog community that you might not have known about otherwise and it's amazing to see how people halfway across the globe are so similar to yourself.

2. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I know it may seem cliche to say "Flying is the superpower I'd have" but it's true. It's the least stressful, most freeing, and honestly who wouldn't want to easily skip rush hour, get places sooner, fly with birds, and see the most amazing sunrises and sunsets. When a bird flies, it seems so majestic, carefree, effortless...I'd want to feel like that too.

3. Who knows you best?
I have to admit, I'm a pretty private person. Whether it's not being completely myself around friends or sharing all my inner thoughts, I've reserved myself more often than not. However, there is one person that somehow lifts the spell. Garrett, my boyfriend, is the only person who I am completely myself around and knows me the best. Around him it's all out on the table, I have told him every though, shown him every flaw and weird habit. Although, I sometimes wish I would have held my tongue or wish he didn't see that.

4. How do you like your coffee?
Black with 2 (maybe 3) shots of espresso, I know what you're thinking...you're crazy and I probably am but I have too many things to get done that I probably couldn't do without those extra shots. Otherwise, I am a tea girl - any kind, any time.

5. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
If I could go anywhere in the world right now, I'd go to the beach. Besides the mountains, it's the place I feel most calm and where every problem or concern disappears.

6. What is the quirkiest thing about you?
Oh gosh...I'd probably say my sense of humor. I'm more selective to who see's my true humor but they'd know it's not typical and I guess you could called it quirky. I like being weird and I think being weird but funny is one of the most amazing and fun traits a person could have. I prefer my friends that way too.

7. Are you a morning or an evening person?
I am an evening person to an extent - some nights I am restless and can only sleep for an hour. I know it's unhealthy, maybe it's due to my coffee choices but I've been trying to turn that around and force myself to be a morning person.

8. What would you describe to be your best quality?
My drive for things I've most passionate about. I am a perfectionist so wanting to be the best and do the best is always in the back of my mind. My drive has gotten me a long way in life and so I'm thankful for that trait everyday.

9. What's the most precious item in your closet?
My booties. I always find an occasion to wear them and they never let me down. You can dress them up or down and look good either way. Plus, I love adding a little heel in my shoe whenever I can.

10. What was your biggest 'aha'-moment?
When I first started out in school I was a Pre-Med major and loved that field but I had always felt a lack of creativity and I really wanted to incorporate that into my everyday life through a career so I switched my major to Merchandising Management. However, that wasn't my 'aha-moment', it was after I had learned how to ski. I always knew I wanted to create and inspire but I didn't know where. I dabbled around the idea of the wedding gown industry but nothing felt right until I learned how to ski and thought to myself...this is what I want to do and this is where I'll go - the outdoor/skiing industry. So here I am, pursuing that path and it's been nothing but an adventure.

11. Where do you get your inspiration to blog from?
My friends, my travels, other amazing bloggers, the outdoors, fashion/design/style, skiing, food. Pretty much amazing people doing or making amazing things which in turn makes me want to do and make amazing things as well!

Enough about me, now it's time for me to nominate 5-11 blogs that I feel deserve recognition.

This Week's Outfit Pick: Camel Coats & Jeans

What a weird year it has been when it comes to weather, just last week it felt like that beginning of summer but this weekend I had to pull out my (currently) favorite coat to keep warm down in Bend.

Where everything is a little bit more laid back, I still felt a little overdressed in this super casual look while in Bend. For those of you who don't know of Bend, Oregon or are just a little unfamiliar, it is the perfect place to get away from the big city & get a dose of the outdoors.  I decided to take a little break from skiing, hiking, & some of the best beer around and get a little outfit shoot in for you all.

Always Adventure: Wahtum Lake - Mt. Hood National Forest

I have to admit...I'm the spontaneous and not fully planned out adventure type. Maybe I'm a little crazy, unorganized, or whatever you call it but to me it's more of an adventure if you go out of your comfort zone, go wherever your heart desires and where your feet will take you.

Easy Levi's Boyfriend Jean DIY

On one of my many weekend getaways to Bend, I found myself wandering the isles of Goodwill in search of a perfect pair of Levi's. It seems I am in constant search for the perfect pair of vintage Levi's; they are so often looked after and picked through that it is hard to find a good pair in the city.

At last and to my surprise, there they were: high waisted, my size, perfect condition, & in a favorable color...I don't know how I got so lucky! As perfect as they were, I knew I had to tailor them to fit my style so I decided to give them a little DIY distress treatment. I love the look and to be honest my favorite type of distressed jeans are the ones that are actually destroyed and worn out but you can't always skid your knees for the look so here I am. Like I've done to many jeans, here is my step-by-step DIY on how to destroy your jeans just right.

Alberta Street Shopping

Known for hosting Last Thursday, I never thought about exploring Alberta street on a regular day but I'm glad I finally found the time. Small & quirky, Alberta offers Portlanders a pleasant variety of local shopping & eats.

I started my morning off at Helser's on Alberta with a few cups of coffee and a plate of their Natural Zenner's Ham Benedict with a side of perfectly executed country potatoes.

The second stop, Digs, is a home and garden furnishings store that instantly took my heart. Filled with succulents, unique planters, and delicious smelling candles just to name a few, I wanted to unpack my bags and move in that day. With an unlimited bank account, this shop could be dangerous.

Watercolor Wonders :: DIY Calendars

My only way of staying on top of my life is to stay organized, whether it be through planners, sticky notes, text reminders or calendars, I need something to guide and remind me throughout my day. I've been eager to make a few watercolored calendars of my own for the new year so here I am.
Despite my lack of incredible artistic ability with watercolors, this DIY was quite easy.

First, you'll need supplies - I went to the local craft store and found myself a colorful set of watercolors, a pack of paint brushes, and some watercolor paper. I already had an artist pen that I used for drawing out the dates but any felt tip pen will do.
